When I think of country music, the stories always stick with me. The stories that make one era, person or even place seem bigger, more fun or even sweeter than remembered or known.
That's what happened in Tracy Lawrence's 2003 hit "Paint Me a Birmingham".
At the heart of the song is love lost, which makes country so great. It's the truest genre to the heart and the pains of losing a love. All he wants back in his life is his girl in Birmingham. So sweet, so subtle and yet so specific. Hard not to like.
